E-Werk

E-Werk, built as Umspannwerk Buchhändlerhof (a power substation) between 1926 and 1928 in the Berlin area Mitte located near Checkpoint Charlie.
Between 1993 and 1997 E-Werk was an influential club in the techno subculture. Resident DJs Kid Paul and Paul Van Dyk had their famous “Dubmission” parties here every friday.
Paul Van Dyk paid homage to the club in 1998 by naming the remix for one of his most notable tracks, “For An Angel”, the “PvD E-Werk Club Mix”.

After it’s closure as a techno club on 24 July 1997, the building got referbished and reopened in 2005 as an all-purpose venue.
