Yes, Rammstein has a lot to do with Berlin. But also in the years before Rammstein was founded, the Rammstein members did a lot of things in Berlin with other bands, like Feeling B.
Some of these bands were founded in Berlin and surrounding area or their bandmembers lived in Greater Berlin at some time. Some even had their “proberaum” in Berlin and have also played live in Berlin sometimes.
For many of these bands it is very difficult to find any information, like the year of founding or disbanding, information about any recordings and even live shows.
Here you will find only the bands were there is at least a little bit of Berlin related information known about.

The best known band from this pre-Rammstein era is the punk band Feeling B. The band was formed in 1983 by Aljoscha Rompe (vocals), Alexander Kriening (Drums), Otto Leimer (bass) and Paul Landers (guitar) as “Feeling Berlin”. Drummer Kriening knew Flake, who was just 16 years old at the time, from a concert he played at his brother’s school, and when bassist Otto Leimer quit the band he invited Lorenz, who just got an electric organ. At the end of 1983, the band already had an “Einstufung”, which was needed in the German Democratic Republic to play concerts legally. In 1987, the band was the main focus of the movie flüstern&SCHREIEN.
Christoph Schneider joined the band in 1990, although he was only seen as a guest drummer by his bandmates. In January 1990, they released Hea Hoa Hoa Hea Hea Hoa, the first official punk album of the German Democratic Republic. After the wall came down, Aljoscha founded the record label Pirate Music Production, on which the two subsequent albums Wir kriegen euch alle and Die Maske des roten Todes got released. After Die Maske des roten Todes, Schneider left the band to form Rammstein. Paul and Flake made new songs, and Aljoscha was traveling around the world.

Flake is currently the owner of this building.
